Meet The Team

We are the staff of Sacred Hearts Veterinary Hospital and look forward to meeting you.  Our goal is to provide a furry loved one with the most advanced veterinary care possible.  Our services are designed to emphasize overall health care for a pet throughout all stages of their life.

  • Amanda Owens, DVM
    Veterinarian

Dr. Amanda Owens developed a love of animals at an early age and is now dedicating her life to their well-being. She graduated with honors from Ross University and completed a year of clinical rotations at Oregon State University. She then furthered her education with a rotating externship at Dove Lewis Emergency Hospital.

Dr. Owens has a unique understanding of the love and companionship “fur babies” provide their owners and seeks to ensure they get the care they need to enjoy long, happy lives. She also has a strong passion for small animal internal medicine and surgery.

Dr. Owens and her husband, Richard, enjoy the “simplicities of life” such as spending time with family and friends and traveling. They have three dogs of their own.

Dr. Owens is also involved in the community and is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and is on the Board of Directors of Miranda’s People.

  • Denise Razo
    Receptionist

Denise knew from a young age that she wanted to work with animals. She grew up taking care of dogs, rabbits, fish and parakeets. Now she has a bachelor's degree in animal science from Cal Poly Pomona and her goal is to become a registered veterinary technician.

When she isn't working, Denise enjoys spending time with her three dogs – Ollie, Jack and Milo – and visiting Disneyland

  • Lisa Kates
    Veterinary Assistant & Receptionist

Lisa’s interest in animals began early in life. In high school, she took ROP Animal Care (for zoo animals) and soon after starting the class was hired as an animal caretaker.

After graduating high school, Lisa started working for a local veterinarian. She then took a break to pursue more schooling, get married and raise four children.

During this break, she began competitively showing her Labrador Retrievers. Later, she worked with and helped rehab local wildlife at Sunshine Haven Wildlife Rehabilitation Hospital.

Now Lisa has joined the team at Sacred Hearts Veterinary Hospital which she says is filled with amazing people that share the same passion for animals that she does.

At home, Lisa keeps busy taking care of four dogs, two cats, one bird, fish and five lizards. She also cares for foster “fur babies.”

  • Veronica Estrada
    Receptionist

Veronica has a real passion for animals and has two “fur babies” of her own – Oreo, who is a black lab, and Olaf, who is a Pitbull. In her free time, Veronica enjoys spending time outdoors and being adventurous. She also loves going to Disneyland.

  • Cynthia Flores
    Veterinary Assistant

Cynthia’s love of animals began at a young age. In high school, she joined the Future Farmers of America (FFA) program. She raised sheep and worked with other livestock all four years of high school. After graduating, she got certified as a veterinary assistant and has been working in the veterinary field for the past five years.

Cynthia is currently furthering her education at Mt San Antonio College where she is enrolled in the registered veterinary technician program. She is also currently mom to three Boston Terriers.

  • Kathryn Rodriguez
    Veterinary Assistant

Kathryn is a very driven and goal orientated veterinary assistant. Her top goals are excellent, caring, and thorough patient care.

She obtained her Certificate of Veterinary Assistant in 2011 and is actively pursuing increasing her knowledge and skill base by achieving her Registered Veterinary Technician License.

She shares her adventures and life with her husband Timothy Rodriguez and four-legged child Asher.
